Why did you choose the TRANSFOR Masters program?

There are plenty of reasons why the TRANSFOR-Masters is a great program: at the end of the two years of study you get a dual Master degree, you get a scholarship for one year, you have two fieldtrips in Canada and Europe, and maybe most important you are able to encounter other perspectives on forestry, education and life.

The international experience was way above my expectations…I was also able to meet a lot of people from different places around the world and make good friends.

Academic Highlight

University of Freiburg is a good university, with the Faculty of Forestry being an important one. Some of the courses taken here were quite interesting, and I now have a better understanding of how forestry is practiced in Germany. Moreover, the field courses were very stimulating with a direct view on how varied the silviculture, harvesting systems and issues of forestry can be.

Memorable International Experience

The international experience was way above my expectations. I realize how important is to know the language of the country and how people sometimes think and behave very differently from the Canadian way. I was also able to meet a lot of people from different places around the world and make good friends. I have definitely learned a lot by living in Freiburg for one year.

Future Aspirations

After I will finish my master thesis, I hope to start a PhD in the area of biometrics and remote sensing.
