Why did you choose the TRANSFOR Masters Program?

The TRANSFOR-M program has a number of components I was interested in that add perspective and breadth to my master’s education: two field courses (Canada and Europe), a year to study and do research at a university abroad, a summer internship and supervisors from two different universities and countries.

Academically the highlight has been conducting my own research in Sweden on forest management and climate change adaptation and comparing it to British Columbia.

Academic Highlight

Academically the highlight has been conducting my own research in Sweden on forest management and climate change adaptation and comparing it to British Columbia. I am also beginning some interesting work this summer 2012 at the Vilhelmina Model forest on a climate impacts and adaptation handbook.

Memorable International Experience

I have really enjoyed getting to know the culture, language, and outdoor adventures in Sweden. Some of the outdoor activities in Umea include: hiking, running, cross-country skiing, outdoor campfires, snowshoeing, climbing, and more. I enjoyed making friends that are both Swedish and from different parts of the world.

Future Aspirations

After graduation I hope to continue with my interests personally and educationally. Whether it means I go travelling, find a job, or return to do my PhD, I still have a year to decide. There is a world of possibilities!
